CAECOPAZ was founded on the 27th of June 1995, offering specialist training at the highest level to Argentinian Forces Personnel due to participate in international Peacekeeping operations.

At Caecopaz we are systematically capitalising on the experience that - since 1958 - our country has gained through participation on Multinational Operations. Meanwhile maintaining the spirit of altruism and idealism that our predecessors set out in their first steps on the road towards worldwide peace and security.

CAECOPAZ was created as a response in order to face the great challenges presented by the real world. A world where Peace Support Operations were becoming day by day more complex, involving greater numbers of participants - as many civilian as military - who were performing tasks not previously seen on traditional operations; while immersed in situations, each time more volatile than the last.

Even though Argentina has contributed troops to Peace Support Operations for more than 40 years it should be emphasised that since 1992 our country has become deeply committed to Peace Support, having deployed 1500 individuals by 1994. We have participated in operations in the Former-Yugoslavia, Cyprus, Kuwait and Croatia.

Argentinian Forces participated in Naval Operations during the Gulf War, in the Gulf of Fonseca off El Salvador and Haiti. We have also participated in Humanitarian Support Operations in Mozambique, the Gulf War and Kosovo; as well as providing Air Support to operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Cyprus.

On the other hand we have provided support to UNHQNY, supplying Officers and personnel; as well as support to the Peace Support Training Center in Canada with intructors from our centre, specialising in techniques for UN Military Observers.

The growth of the centre has encompassed a dizzying evolution resulting from the challenges presented by participation in Multinational Peace Support Operations.
